I think it’s time we revisit the idea of a Halloween season bucket list.
Back when I first started Spooky Little Halloween, The Spooky Vegan was sharing annual lists of all her plans for the season. I loved it and decided to join her in sharing my own. In 2019, I even put together a downloadable list so you could make your own.
And then…well, you know.
But given that I’m in a new state with new fall activities to enjoy, I decided to bring it back for 2023. Here is everything I’m looking forward to enjoying this Halloween season!
My 2023 Halloween Season Bucket List
- Experience the seasons actually changing—I’m tracking how the leaves change in my new Fall Fridays series on Instagram
- Decorate my front porch with mums and pumpkins…and hope the squirrel gang that lives in my neighborhood leaves them alone 😂
- Play a few of these cozy fall games for Nintendo Switch @cozywhimsyrose has recommended on TikTok
- Per a recommendation from @halloweenhomemaker, visit The AppleHouse at the University of Minnesota
- And as long as we’re talking apples, visit at least one of these orchards recommended by my new local blogging friend, Lizanne
- Once I’ve visited all my apple hot spots, make one or two of these recipes using what I take home
- Find a local corn maze to wander—if you’re in Minneapolis, I’d love recommendations!
- Same goes for finding a local pumpkin patch
- Sample all the fall drinks on the menu at Wild Grind, my local coffee shop (so intrigued by that Twilight Zone latte)
- I also want to try all the pumpkin drinks Caribou Coffee offers—keep an eye out for an IG Live + reel soon
- Maaaybe try the new haunt opening at Mall of America? I’m feeling brave after doing ALL the haunts at Midsummer Scream…
- I’d also really like to try a haunted hayride. Maybe I’ll like those better than walk-thru haunts?
- Once the leaves change, take a drive up to the North Shore to visit this coffee shop in the woods
- Visit the Jack-o-Lantern Spectacular at the Minnesota Zoo
- Enjoy an All Hallows Treat beer with my dad—I picked up a four-pack recently but haven’t been brave enough to try it solo
- I also want to finally make this pumpkin spice margarita recipe
- Attend the Cranberry Festival in Eagle River, WI—I went last year, and there were SO many cool Halloween things! Plus, I want to eat all the cranberry treats
- Grab some fresh cranberries in Wisconsin and make my cranberry brownies
- While I’m in Wisconsin, stop into Briar House for a pumpkin pie latte (they’re my favorite!)
- Re-read at least one of the books on this list
- Wear ALL the Halloween cardigans I’ve owned for years and was never able to enjoy wearing in Houston in September and October
- Finally hit up the Anoka Halloween shop in person!
- Once October hits, spend a weekend morning in Anoka taking in all the spooky sights
- Go for a pumpkin walk in my new neighborhood in October
- Go back to Virginia for my THIRD year of That Halloween Bro’s party, Boos & Booze—he’s celebrating 10 years of his party this year!
- Spend Halloween weekend haunting New York City with Matt, aka @hallowwoods
